Facial fat transfer
Procedure: Facial fat transfer is a procedure where fat is harvested from the thighs or abdoment and is injected into the face to enhance facial volume and contours. We use very small incisions that heal inconspicuously. After injections, around 50% of the fat is lost, but the resulting fat results is permanent.
The ideal candidate for facial fat transfer is a patient with realistic expectations that wants a more permanent solution to facial volume loss, and that is not planning any extreme weight variations as this can affect results. A minimal amount of fat must also be present in the abdomen or thighs. The procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia depending on patient preference.
Facial fat transfer usually takes an hour and a half to perform. Surgical results last a lifetime. Final results take one year to show.

Recovery time: Patients can return to work, school or social activities the next day. However, swelling is to be expected especially during the first few weeks. Light physical activity can be resumed after a week, but you should refrain from heavy lifting for three weeks to prevent bleeding.
Risks: Pain, bleeding, infection, visible scarring, unsatisfactory cosmetic result, asymmetries, irregularities and bumpiness.
